The Summer Bounty of Bend’s farmer’s market
Take a peek at all that Summer has to offer Bend’s local marketplace.
If you find yourself in Bend, Oregon during the Summertime, you’ll have to make a stop at their Farmer’s Market to check out the best local produce that Bend has to offer.
We’ve been traveling more than ever this Summer (thank you RV camping!) and we’ve been lucky enough to explore more of our beautiful home state of Oregon than we ever have before.
Bend Oregon is one of the coolest places we’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the winding rivers, to the breathtaking hikes, the local food scene, countless activities to do with the kids (don’t miss out on the SHARC waterpark!) and of course, the world’s very last Blockbuster… Bend has plenty to offer.
And of course, we made a trip over to check out their local farmer’s market while we were there for a visit.
Bend’s assortment is similar to our hometown’s, yet just different enough to catch your eye and make you take a closer look.
We stumbled upon some beautiful mushrooms, assorted berries, flower bouquets galore, fresh pastries and baked goods, jerky and dried meats, chicken and duck eggs, local Oregon spirits, fresh cherries, nectarines, cucumbers and herbs, and some local honey from a farm who even brought their bees along for the trip.
One of my kids’ favorite picks from our farmer’s market (or the CSA box) is always snap peas, so of course we picked up a box to munch on while we were perusing.
But of course, depending on what time of year you may be visiting, the options will always vary! Which is honestly one of my favorite things about farmers markets in the first place.
Bend’s Farmer’s Market is located right along the Deschutes River. There’s a grassy hill nearby for the kids to run around and stretch their legs, and a path to walk along and enjoy the sunshine (and catch a peek of some ducks, if you’re lucky!) after you shop.
Or if you’d prefer to shop some more, you’ll find some of Bend’s coolest shops located opposite the river on the other side of the market. Here you’ll find everything from clothing to furniture stores, souvenir shops and cafes, and plenty of restaurants to choose from.
The market is open every Wednesday from May through October. Be sure to check their website for seasonal hours and more info.
Happy exploring!
